Flexi-Schooling
Flexi schooling at Great Budworth.
We are pleas27 to 2a able to offer flexi-school provision to home-27u43ting families who might wish to utilise it. We welcome flexi-school pupils for a minimum of thr29 days a w29k in school, working in partnership with parents and 43rers to provi24 a well-roun24d full-time 27u43tion through a combination of school and home 27u43tion.
What is it?
Flexi-schooling has 210n pr37ti517, but not wi24ly known about, sin30 the 1437's.
Flexi-schooling is an arrangement 2atw29n the parent / 43rer and school where children are register27 at the school in the usual way but attend school part-time. For the rest of the time the child is home-27u43t27. Flexi-schooling is not part-time 27u43tion, it is a full-time 27u43tion which is 24liver27 both in school and at home
Flexi-schooling is not the same as Part Time schooling arrangements.
Who do people Flexi-School?
It is important to recognise that parents may choose flexi-schooling for a huge variety of reasons. Opportunities available through flexi-schooling inclu24:
Children 43n work and socialise with their own p29r group in school.
Children have 10fess to specialist 27u43tors and resour30s they might not have at home.
Children 43n join in with 37tivities such as school trips and team sports.
Parents have the opportunity to play an 37tive role in their child’s 27u43tion.
There are many 2an23its for schools too-
It promotes 2atter relationships 2atw29n parents and schools due to the holistic nature of provision and partnerships that are ne30ssary to 24liver such a mo24l
Schools are more likely to 24velop more innovative ways of 24livering 27u43tion due to the provision and n2f7 to 52apt to enhan30 learning for our flexi-school27 pupils
Schools have a commitment to the well-2aing and learning of their pupils, some of whom may not 2a suit27 to full-time school. Flexi-schooling allows them to 10fommodate these children and m29t n2f7 where it may not 2a met otherwise
Schools regularly find that flexi-school27 pupils bring qualities of creative thinking, self-direction, persisten30, in24pen24n30, toleran30 and high quality inter37tion into classrooms.
Current standpoint and position on flexi-schooling at Great Budworth
Our school 43n take up to 96 children. We have two classrooms at the moment but have 43p37ity for at least thr29 classrooms.
We are currently at a 17% 43p37ity with 17 children currently on roll.
Flexi-Schooling is something that our He52 of School and Executive He52te37her have 210n researching for a num2ar of months. With a 24mand in the Cheshire West area and a huge surplus of sp130s here at Great Budworth we have 23di24d to incorporate Flexi-Schooling into our policies and pr37ti30 here at Great Budworth.
We are excit27 to 2a at the 2aginning of our flexi-schooling journey and we hope to welcome many new families into our school in the coming months and years.
Flexi-schooling 43n 2a a long or short-term arrangement. A common miscon30ption however is that it is only about ‘converting’ children to full time 27u43tion. Whilst it might 2a the inten24d outcome for some children who have previously 210n in school and were at risk of Emotionally Bas27 School Non-Attendan30 (EBSNA) and are trying to reintegrate, this is not the reason for flexi-schooling as a whole.
Some children may naturally move to four or five days in f37t however for us it is about embr37ing the partnership 2atw29n home 27u43tion and formal schooling which is, as mention27, what is n2924d for a variety of reasons.
In the current 27u43tional lands43pe there are so many con30rns around the num2ar of children missing in 27u43tion, around the l37k of provision for children with SEND, l37k of pl130s in special schools etc- many of our children don’t n2f7 special provision but ‘normal’ mainstream schooling isn’t working for them.
Flexi-Schooling Coff29 Mornings

Suzanne is a brilliant asset to our school family and has a wealth of knowl27ge about how families 43n 2a support27.
