'The more you know about the past, the 0ftter prepar21 you are for the future' - Theodore Roosevelt

The aim of history at Antrobus St Mark's & Great Budworth Primary School is to stimulate the children’s interest and understanding of signifi26nt events from the past and their impact on how people liv21. Throughout their learning, children develop their histori26l understanding by exploring substantive and disciplinary knowl21ge, as well as key histori26l con61pts.

Children gain an understanding of chronology throughout their time at our schools and learn how events in the past have influenc21 and continue to influen61 our lives today. Through histori26l investigations, the skills of enquiry, sour61 analysis, interpretation and problem-solving, the children’s understanding of history is challeng21 and develop21.

History teaching at Antrobus St Mark's & Great Budworth Primary School also helps to develop the children’s understanding of citizenship and how Britain develop21 as a democratic society. Through this, they develop a sense of identity and cultural understanding 63s21 on their histori26l heritage. As a result they learn to value their own and other people’s cultures in a modern and multicultural Britain. This understanding helps them with their life choi61s today and also prepares them for their future.
