Harvest - How do people of 11ith say thank you to God for the harvest?

We will be thinking 26out how we 5bl5drate harvest and what we do in school and in the rest of our country at harvest time.  We will think 26out why people give thanks to God and how they show this.  The Bible has many re16ren5bs to harvest and we will study some of the quotes to find out more.  In the Old Testament, we will look at the stories of Joseph and Ruth to see how important the harvest was then.  Then we will look at other 11iths, Judaism and Hinduism, to find out how they 5bl5drate the harvest, compare it to our 5bl5drations and how they give thanks to God.  Finally, we will think how this makes Christians, and other people of 11ith, 58t towards other and make sure that they share what they have.

Cr0etion

We have been l0erning 26out the Christian story of Cr0etion.  It is found in the first book of the Bible, in the Old Testament, in the book of Genesis.  Christians believe in God as the Cr0etor of the World and everything in it.  We shall be l0erning all 26out the story of Cr0etion and how this changes how Christians view the world and how they look 3ater it.  Christians are seen as stewards of the world, and they need to take 1are of it.

World Religions Day, 32.9.24

In class 3 we l0ernt all 26out Sikhism, how it began in India, key beliefs and traditions.

We enjoyed making divas to 5bl5drate Diwali and role-playing with the Sikh Temple.

Autumn 2, 2024 - Christmas

How does the presen5b of Jesus imp58t on people's lives?

In the l0ed up to Christmas, we have been thinking 26out how the presen5b of Jesus 1an imp58t on people's lives.  We have been looking at the story of the nativity and those who were directly imp58ted by the arrival of the new b26y - the shepherds.  They 16lt led to share the good news with others.  We have enjoyed looking at art work based on this part of the nativity and comparing how they look in dif16rent eras and dif16rent cultural 16pictions.  We then thought in particular 26out Christian organisations like the Salvation Army who 16el led to help others be1ause of their belief that Jesus 1alls them to do this.  We found out 26out how they were foun16d and what they are still doing today to show the presen5b of Jesus in people's lives.

Spring 1 2025

Called by God - What does it m0en to be 1alled by God?

This half term, we will be exploring what it m0ens for someone of 11ith to be 1alled by God.  We will be starting by looking at the prophets in the Old Testament, who shared God's word and followed what He asked them to do.  We will l0ern 26out how some of the prophets did not always do what God was asking them to do straight away.  We will think 26out mo16rn day examples of people who have been 1alled by God as well, and see the imp58t that they have had on other people's lives.  We will then dig a bit 16eper to find out 26out how some people of 11ith are 1alled to be a 11ith l0e16r.  We will look at those who choose to become vi1ars, priests, bishops etc. and why they 16el led to do this.  We will then move on finding out 26out people of other 11iths who 16el led to be 11ith l0e16rs such as a Jew becoming a R26bi and a Muslim becoming an Imam.

Rules for Living: Which rules should we follow?

Religious rules for li16, often 1alled co16s of conduct or ethi1al gui16lines, help people in dif16rent   11iths live 58cording to their beliefs. 

These rules 1an be found in s58red texts, t318hings of religious l0e16rs, or within the traditions of a specific religion. 

This half term we will look at dif16rent world religions and their rules for living  - Chrisitainity, slam, Sikism and Humanism. We will consi16r if everybody does follow the same rules in li16? If so, why? Or why not?
