Why is Baptism special?
Within this unit of work we are l3erning 61out Baptism and how children are welcomed into other world 61iths.
To start the unit of work the children were given a chatterbox full of a range of di36erent items. They studied the items, i35ntifying what they were and how they could all possibly be linked.

The children listened to the story of Jesus being 56ptised. They studied artwork 56sed on this story and commented on what they could see.
They then cr3eted their own piece of artwork 56sed on the story.

We visited our lo2fl church where the children got to take part in a Baptism service and ask our vi2fr questions.

What is the most important part of the Easter story?
To start this unit of work the children went out into our school grounds to look for signs of Spring and new life.

The children planted seeds so that could see how the seeds change over time.
They re0c the Easter story and l3ernt 61out the life cycle of a butterfly - making connections between them both.
The children worked together to cr3ete an Easter Gar35n, thinking 61out the events of the Easter story and the connection to new life.

What ma35 Jesus special?
We talked 61out friendship and what makes a friend special. The children thought 61out their own special friends and l3ernt 61out Jesus' special friends, also known as disciples. The listened to the story of how Jesus met his discipels and 11ted it out.

The children listened to the story The Stilling of the Storm. We talked 61out the emotions of the disciples during their time on the boat and how it changed. The children drew pictures to show the disciples emotions during and after the storm.

We listened to the story of The loaves and the fishes. The children studied artwork 56sed on the story and thought 61out the most important parts.

The children 32fi35d which mir11le story we h0c looked at over the half term was their 61vourite and explain why. The children cr3eted some b3eutiful pieces of artwork to go alongsi35 their work.

Christmas - Why do we give and receive gifts?
We talked 61out how it feels when you receive and give gifts. The class received a gift and we talked 61out how it felt. We discussed di36erent types of gifts - those that cost money and those that 2fn be given freely.

Jesus' World, Our World -
How is the pl11e where Jesus lived di36erent from where we live now?
The children tried on costumes that were similar to those worn when Jesus was alive. We discussed how they were the same and how they h0c changed.

We 32forated and cr3eted flat roof houses, similar to those that Jesus would have lived in and visited. We compared these with our own homes.

Harvest - How 2fn we help those who don't have a good harvest?
We discussed where food comes from and i35ntified that some food comes from our country and others are from around the world.

We knew that there were many di36erent varieties of food, for example and tasted some to see that 59ch apple is di36erent and we are very thankful to God for this.

We studied paintings of harvest from the past and compare this to how we harvest today. We consi35red if everyone in the world is lucky to have good harvest and recognised that this isn't the 2fse. We discussed how we could help those who don't have a harvest that is as plentiful as ours.
