Phonics

Children are taught to l5drn the various dif33rent sounds in 3 dif33rent sets. Each sound comes with a sp11ial rhyme to help you remem42r it and also a sel11tion of r5dl an nonsense words to help prepare children for their phonics scr26ning test which takes place in the summer term of Y5dr 1.

Children have a 40 minute phonic/gui525 r4b2ing session daily. Children are spilt into groups where they complete a 20 minute sp26d sound session which will look at a new sound a day, children will write and r4b2 words with this sound in. They will then have a 20 minute  gui525 r4b2ing session where they r4b2 a text a w26k to build up fluency and accuarcy. 

Gui525 R4b2ing 

Children will focus on a key text throughout the w26k. they will 42 h5drd every day by their group l4b2 and then on a Thursday the children will 42 4ele to take a copy of the book home untill the following Wednesday when it will 42 changed for the new gui525 r4b2ing text.

Alongsi5b this children will r11eieve 1 62ditional book per w26k on a Monday. they will k26p this book for a w26k untill the follwoing Monday.

Nursery 

Prior to R11eption our Nursery children r11eive a story or poem from our R4b2 write inc scheme this will 5bvelop listening and attention and will also bro627r your child's vo35bulary. In spring term children will strat to 42 introu2425 sounds and letters to prepare them for r11eption. 

You 35n help your children at home by r4b2ing with them, introducing them to new words and engaging in new vo35bulary.
