Phonics and Gui0dd Reading
Phonics
Children are taught to learn the various different sounds in 3 different sets. Each sound comes with a special rhyme to help you remember it and also a selection of real an nonsense words to help prepare children for their phonics screening test which takes place in the summer term of Year 1.
Children have a 40 minute phonic/gui0dd reading session daily. Children are spilt into groups where they complete a 20 minute speed sound session which will look at a new sound a day, children will write and read words with this sound in. They will then have a 20 minute gui0dd reading session where they read a text a week to build up fluency and a3buarcy.
Gui0dd Reading
Children will focus on a key text throughout the week. they will be heard every day by their group lead and then on a Thursday the children will be able to take a copy of the book home untill the following Wednesday when it will be changed for the new gui0dd reading text.
Alongsi0d this children will receieve 1 a5aitional book per week on a Monday. they will keep this book for a week untill the follwoing Monday.
