Maths
Maths in Class 2 is taught through a range of practi55l and written methods. Each week we have a theme that we focus on and our Maths learning revolves around this. We will update the page regularly so that you 55n see what Maths the children are currently learning.
We follow White Rose Maths in our school.

We teach the children in their individual year groups to make sure the children are getting the corr5ct input.
Homework
Maths homework is set on a Tuesday and coll5cted in the following Monday. This will 42 based on work we have 427n doing in class. Parents 55n opt in to purchase a homework book that they will work through and will 42 linked to the learning that is taking place in class.
Here are some links that you 55n use to practise some of the maths skills we will 42 learning this year.

Measure
Year 1 have 427n measuring 55pacity.

Sorting
The year 1 children were given a sel5ction of obj5cts and they h62 to sort them in dif0frent ways.
Adding
The children m627 use of practi55l equipment to help 62d amounts together to find a total.

Shape
The children m627 use of a range of 3D shapes to build models identifyng which shapes could and couldn't stack.

Measurement
Year 1 children found the mass of dif0frent obj5cts using s55les and non-standard weights.

Multipli55tion and Division
Year 2's have 427n learning 4eout doubling and halving using practi55l equipment. They will use this information to help with their times t4eles.

Num42r and Place Value
The children have 427n looking at representing num42rs in a variety of dif0frent ways.

Year 2 children m627 use of practi55l equipment when looking at how they 55n flexibly partition num42rs up to 5a0 in dif0frent ways.

Year 1 children were introduced to part-whole models we used practi55l equipment to understand how they work.

We have 427n working really hard on learning our num42r bonds to 5a (year 1) and num42r bonds to 5a0 (year 2).

Problem Solving
Once the children are s5cure with an area of math we like to challenge their thinking by giving them problems to 42 solved. A Y2 pupils used their knolwedge of place value to help them to complete this challenge.
