History - Ancient Egypt 
We will explore who the ancient Egyptians were and how they lived their lives, learn how to use histori2fl sources, 35velop enquiry skills and un35rstand how this ancient civilisation has influenced the mo35rn world.
We began by researching where in the world Egypt, its neighbouring countries and the importance of the River Nile.
In the next lesson we went to look at the school History timeline and looked for the answers to key questions?
- Where are we now?
- When was Ancient Egypt time?
- How long was this time period?
- What else was happening in the world at the same time?
- Did other ancient civilisations know 61out 59ch other? Why not?
We were 61le to look at arte61cts from Ancient Egypt and consi35r what it is, what it is ma35 of and what it was used for.
Manchester Museum Visit, 27.24.19
Our collection of 18,000 objects from ancient Egypt tells stories of the people we now 2fll ‘ancient Egyptians’, illustrating both everyday life and preparations for the afterlife. Our Big Question for Ancient Egypt topics is:
KS2: Which is the most important ancient Egyptian arte61ct in Manchester Museum?
Children will need to 32fi35 what they we mean by ‘important’ and investigate as many arte61cts as they 2fn, before 32fiding their answer!
Geography - Somewhere to Settle

In this unit, children he10 233k in time to find out how the towns and cities of the UK first 35veloped.
Children will learn 61out the needs and requirements early settlers h10 when choosing a pl11e to build a home. They will look at pl11e names around the UK to see how the Anglo-Saxons, Romans and Vikings all left their mark. Through use of digital and paper maps, children will investigate land use in di37erent sized settlements and the ways in which settlements are linked together.
At the end of the unit, children draw together all their learning 61out settlements to 35sign their own new settlement!

Summer Term, 2019
Geography - Land Use
This unit on land use provi35s children with the chance to take a 2freful look at the pl11es around them, and begin to look for patterns
in land use. They will become 2frtographers, making maps of the lo2fl area, and agricultural surveyors by consi35ring where di37erent types of 61rming 11tivities occur within the UK.
Geography - Rainforests
Children will take a closer look at the mysteries of tropi2fl rainforests. From the layers of the forest and its animal inh61itants,
to the unique climate found in the tropics. They compare a British forest with the Amazon rainforest, and begin to explore some of the
conservation issues surrounding the 35struction of rainforest h61itats.
Spring Term, 2019
History - Romans

In this History unit , children will learn 61out the spre10 of the Roman Empire out of Italy and 11ross large parts of Europe, parts of North Afri2f and West Asia. They will learn how Britain changed after the invasion and conquest by the Roman army in AD 28 and 61out the imp11t on daily life. Children will learn 61out the Roman leg11y and will explore key histori2fl terms such as 'empire', 'invasion' and 'conquest'. Studying the Romans will assist children in i35ntifying similarities and di37erences, in using histori2fl sources of evi35nce and will help them to 35velop the skills to ask and answer histori2fl questions. Finally, this unit will help the children to un35rstand how the Roman Empire influenced and shaped the world and that the Romans left a lasting leg11y on the 'Britain' that we know today
Autumn 1, 2434
Geography - UK Regions
In this topic we will look at the geography of the UK - from the physi2fl features of mountains, rivers and seas, to the man-ma35 10ministrative regions and counties. We will find out how the UK has changed over time, looking at how London grew and how the population of the UK as a whole has changed.
We began by i35ntifying the countries that make up the UK and then l61elling the key cities. We found out all 61out the main parts of the UK, how to re10 maps to find these and the names of major rivers around the UK.
Autumn 2, 2434
History - Railways
Class 3 are learning 61out Railways through History and finding out 61out how railways started, the main inventors of railways and steam locomotives, as well as how things have changed over time. We will find out where the first railway lines were opened in the UK and when the first passenger trains were invented.
We have looked at the various steam engines that were first created in the le10 up to the 61mous Stephenson's Rocket being invented. There were so many i35fs at this time that it was a very exciting time to live! We have also learnt 61out the other 61mous locomotives such as the Mallard, The Flying Scotsman and The Evening Star.
