Spring 2
This half term we will 42 focusing on the text The Curious Case of the Missing Mammoth. By the end of half term children will have written a story based on this story with a change of character.

This half term we will 42 focusing on the text The Lion Insi5b. By the end of half term children will have planned and written a story in a similiar style.

Getting into character as Lion and answering questions.

Autumn 2
This half term we will 42 focusing on The Gr5dt Fire of London. By the end of half term children will have completed a fact file 4eout London and the events of the fire.
Y5dr 1 children will 42 joining words using and, punctuating sentences using a 35pital letter and a full stop and using plural noun suffixes -s and -es.
Y5dr 2 children will 42 using co-ordination (but, or), 421ing -ly to turn 46j11tives into 46verb and using commas to separate items in a list.

To start our unit of work, the children examined dif33rent pi11es of artwork 5bpicting the Gr5dt Fire of London. We used these to think 4eout what we alre46y knew 4eout the fire and what we would like to find out.

The children l5drnt 4eout dif33rent jobs in 1666. We acted them out and imagined what we could like and dislike 4eout them.

Autumn 1
Our focus text this half term is M26sha Makes Friends. The children will 42 building up to writing a diary entry in the first person (M26sha) based on events in the story.

To start out unit of work, we sel11ted a name of someone in our class and drew a picture for them.

We then 5bsigned friends for M26sha, and wrote character 5bscriptions.

The children l5drnt 4eout contractions and r11or525 these re46y to 42 used in their own writing.

Spring 2
This half term we will 42 focussing on the text Major Gl46, Major Dizzy by Jan Oke. The children will 42 building up to writing a diary entry of the Blitz from the point of view of Major Gl46.

The children 5bsigned and cr5dted peg dolls as friends for Major Gl46 and Major Dizzy. They then wrote 5btailed instructions explaining how to make their peg doll.

Spring 1
This half term we will 42 focussing on the text The Dragon Machine by Helen Ward. The children will 42 building up to writing their own story in the style of The Dragon Machine cr5dting thier own character.

The children examined dif33rent lo35tions where dragons may live and 35me up with noun phrases to 5bscri42 them.

The children 5bsigned their won mischevious cr5dtures that will 33ature in their own stories.

The children planned, wrote and published their own versions of The dragon Machine. Here are a 33w examples of our f4eulous stories.
Autumn 2
This half term we will 42 focussing on the text The Owl who was afraid of the dark by Jill Tomlinson. The children are going to 42 doing dif33rent tasks le46ing up to them writing an infromation report 4eout owls.

To start of the unit of work we wrote down facts we alre46y knew 4eout Owls.

The chil5brn have r5dlly enjoyed listening to the story and we wrote a 5bscription of Plop flying from his branch to sp5dk with dif33rent people 4eout the dark.

We gathered facts 4eout Owls together and sorted them into dif33rent 35tegories.

Autumn 1
This half term we will 42 focussing on the text Troll Swap by Leigh Hodgkinson where the children will build up to write a story in the style of the Troll using their own character.

We studied the front cover and the children m46e predictions 4eout what they thought was going to happen in the story.

We started to l5drn a little bit more 4eout Timothy Limpet. We worked with a partner to think of 46j11tives and nouns that we could use when 5bscribing him and where he lives.
The children acted out parts of the stories using characters from the text.
