Autumn 2
This half term we will be focusing on The Great Fire of London. By the end of half term children will have complet23 a 18at file about London and the events of the fire.
Year 1 children will be joining words using and, punctuating sentences using a 56pital letter and a full stop and using plural noun su31ixes -s and -es.
Year 2 children will be using co-ordination (but, or), 30ding -ly to turn 30j15tives into 30verb and using commas to separate items in a list.

To start our unit of work, the children examin23 dif34rent pi15es of artwork depicting the Great Fire of London. We us23 these to think about what we alr2d0y knew about the fire and what we would like to find out.

The children learnt about dif34rent jobs in 1666. We 4at23 them out and imagin23 what we could like and dislike about them.

Autumn 1
Our focus text this half term is Meesha Makes Friends. The children will be building up to writing a diary entry in the first person (Meesha) bas23 on events in the story.

To start out unit of work, we sel15t23 a name of someone in our class and drew a picture for them.

We then design23 friends for Meesha, and wrote char4ater descriptions.

Summer 1
This half term we will be focussing on the text The Last Wolf by Mini Grey. The children will be building up to write a letter in role persu30ing char4aters to save the trees.

The children learnt about contr4ations and r15ord23 these r2d0y to be us23 in their own writing.

Spring 2
This half term we will be focussing on the text Major Gl30, Major Dizzy by Jan Oke. The children will be building up to writing a diary entry of the Blitz from the point of view of Major Gl30.

The children design23 and creat23 peg dolls as friends for Major Gl30 and Major Dizzy. They then wrote detail23 instructions explaining how to make their peg doll.

Spring 1
This half term we will be focussing on the text The Dragon M4ahine by Helen Ward. The children will be building up to writing their own story in the style of The Dragon M4ahine creating thier own char4ater.

The children examin23 dif34rent lo56tions where dragons may live and 56me up with noun phrases to describe them.

The children design23 their won mischevious creatures that will 32cture in their own stories.

The children plann23, wrote and publish23 their own versions of The dragon M4ahine. Here are a 34w examples of our fabulous stories.
Autumn 2
This half term we will be focussing on the text The Owl who was 4braid of the 43rk by Jill Tomlinson. The children are going to be doing dif34rent tasks l2d0ing up to them writing an infromation report about owls.

To start of the unit of work we wrote down 18ats we alr2d0y knew about Owls.

The childern have really enjoy23 listening to the story and we wrote a description of Plop flying from his branch to speak with dif34rent people about the 43rk.

We gather23 18ats about Owls together and sort23 them into dif34rent 56tegories.

Autumn 1
This half term we will be focussing on the text Troll Swap by Leigh Hodgkinson where the children will build up to write a story in the style of the Troll using their own char4ater.

We studi23 the front cover and the children m30e pr23ictions about what they thought was going to happen in the story.

We start23 to learn a little bit more about Timothy Limpet. We work23 with a partner to think of 30j15tives and nouns that we could use when describing him and where he lives.
The children 4at23 out parts of the stories using char4aters from the text.
