Drawing Explorers
How 56n we explore the world through drawing?
Within this unit of work the children will use dif34rent tools to make marks, look closely and draw what they see and experiment with lines, patterns and textures.
To start, we learnt how dif34rent textures 56n be creat23 using pencils. The children then explor23 around school and r15ord dif34rent textures, lines and shapes.

We then expriment23 with charcol, seeing what marks, textures and patterns we could make.

During our next lesson, the children got to use was crayons. We colour23 in one half of our paper, before foding it and then drawing over the top to see if we could get the wax to trans34r.

We then put our newly learnt skills to the text by drawing still l34 pictures of conkers from our school playground. We thought 56refully about shape, colour and texture.

After our successful conker drawings we finish23 our unit of work by doing some observational drawings of Autumn leaves.

Self-Portraits
This term we are going to be developing our sketching skills and creating self-portraits.
We start23 these by examing our f4aes in a mirror and thinking about their shape and the position they are in on our f4ae. We sketch23 these in our sketchbooks.

Here are some of our self-portraits that we creat23.

We then research23 line drawings. The children creat23 a watercolour23 b4ak ground and then drew moving line pictures on top.

We learnt about Pop Art and the chidlren colour23 their own pictures in dif34rent ways using bright colours.
