“Hand in hand with God,we live love and learn together.”
“By God’s grace, we learn to loveand love to learn.”
During the first few weeks of school all children will be heard reading by the class teacher and children will be given reading books suitable for their reading age and ability. If a child needs to have a new book then they need to let the class teacher know at the beginning of the day. Children are encouraged to read daily at home and for this to be recorded in their reading record.
Children not only need to read the text they have been given but also understand the events that are taking place. We will be working on comprehension skills during our Guided Reading sessions.
Below are some booklets to support reading at home.
Each child will be given a list of spellings on a Monday. Children are asked to learn these spellings at home to be tested on the following Monday.
English and Maths Homework
Every Friday a different English and Maths task will be set based on the learning that has been taking place in school and will be differentiated to meet the needs of each individual child. This will be collected in on the following Monday.
